Each lab machine has two print queues installed for printing. One print queue is for black and white (the default printer), the other print queue is for color prints. Just like the example below.

When you are printing on a public lab computer, you are not sending your job directly to the printer in the lab. Instead, you're sending it to a print queue; you will provide information to help identify your job in the queue. When you print your document, a popup box will appear just like the one below.

Enter a username so that your job is easily identifiable at the release station. Each printer is attached to a release station — a computer fitted with a contactless card reader. Touch your PennCard to activate the release station, locate your job in the queue, and click Print. This will release your job from the queue, and it will come out of the printer.

Your PennCash account is charged only when you release your job from the queue. You are not charged if you send a job, but do not release it. Your job will remain in the queue for up to 2 hours before it is automatically deleted.
